Beer Hawk

Beer Hawk, online craft beer store in the UK

Beer Hawk was a British online store specialising in the sale of craft beer and real ale, with home delivery in the UK. On 14 March, the company announced that it would stop using the Beer Hawk brand and stop selling bottles and cans in the country, moving to operate under the PerfectDraft brand. According to the announcement itself, the company is keeping everything that made Beer Hawk great and transferring its activity to the new PerfectDraft website.

What the store offered

Beer Hawk's catalogue focused on hundreds of craft beers and real ales sent directly to the customer's home. The store offered free shipping on orders over £50. Its activity was structured around the PerfectDraft brand, which sells home draught beer machines and six-litre kegs of beer and cider.

PerfectDraft machines and six-litre kegs

PerfectDraft machines are designed to serve chilled draught beer at home. They work by inserting a six-litre keg of beer or cider, cooling it and pouring the beer. Once the keg is finished, the customer can return it to the company. The company offers a £5 refund in Beer Tokens for each recycled keg.

The range of beers and ciders includes brands such as Stella Artois, Budweiser, Camden Hells, Hawkstone Lager, Stella Artois Unfiltered, Corona, BrewDog Punk IPA, Goose Island and Leffe, among others. The company states that it continually adds new lines.

The PerfectDraft Pro model features variable temperature control, energy-saving options, app connectivity, faster cooling and an optimised serving system. The PerfectDraft Pro app allows you to change the temperature, monitor the keg level and freshness, update the machine automatically and view information about the beer.

Shipping, returns and customer service

The store offers free shipping on orders with three or more kegs, while machines always ship free, with restrictions applicable. The company has a Keg Returns Hub and a customer service team accessible by email. The website includes FAQs, delivery options, privacy policy, terms of use and a referral programme.

The company also runs a loyalty programme using Beer Tokens and publishes a blog called Journal. The site shows an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 based on customer reviews on Feefo.

Rebranding and current situation

The announcement featured on the website states that, as of 14 March, Beer Hawk ceased operating as a brand and stopped selling bottles and cans in the UK, continuing its activity under the name PerfectDraft. The parent company is PerfectDraft UK Limited, with registration number EA WEE/MM9848AA and a member of the Valpak WEEE compliance scheme.
