Towbar Express

Towbar Express: mobile towbar fitting in the UK

Towbar Express is a British company founded in 1997 that specialises in mobile towbar fitting at the customer's home or workplace. The company presents itself as the UK's leading specialist in this type of service, with its own fleet of fitters covering most of the country.

Fitting services

The company fits fixed swan neck, detachable swan neck and fixed flange towbars for cars, vans and motorhomes. The service includes fitting the towbar and the electrical system, with universal, vehicle-specific or aftermarket wiring options. Trailer stability control systems can also be installed.

The fitting process takes place at the location specified by the customer, provided a safe space is available such as a driveway, private car park or workplace. The company states that a typical installation takes between 1 and 4 hours, depending on the vehicle model and electrical options, and that the customer can choose a morning or afternoon time slot. Once completed, the fitter tests the setup and gives the customer a demonstration.

Product and accessory range

In addition to towbars, Towbar Express sells a range of towing and transport-related accessories: cycle carriers from Thule and other brands, with options for 1, 2, 3 or 4 bikes, as well as electric bike carriers; packages combining a towbar and a cycle carrier; Thule cycle carrier accessories; adjustable height couplings; towbar mounted steps; bumper guards; towing electrical adapters; towballs and covers; cargo boxes; and commercial vehicle accessories. It also offers Tentbox products.

The online shop allows you to search for the right towbar by registration or by make, model and year, and includes a postcode coverage checker tool.

Coverage and fleet

The company started trading in 1997 in North Yorkshire with a single van, expanding shortly afterwards to two vehicles to also cover the Humberside area. Today, according to the information on its website, it covers 95% of Great Britain and continues to expand its fleet of fitters. Towbar Express highlights that all its fitters are directly employed by the company, with no subcontracting or franchising, which guarantees that the customer does not have to deal with third parties for the installation.

Fleet and trade solutions

The company offers specialised and flexible solutions for vehicle fleets and for the trade sector (trade solutions), adapting to the needs of businesses with multiple vehicles.

Warranty and customer service

All towbars fitted by Towbar Express come with a warranty. The company has a UK-based customer service team and offers after-sales service. On Trustpilot it has accumulated thousands of verified reviews with a 5-star rating, as reflected on its own website.
