The Peat Inn: modern Scottish cuisine with a Michelin star near St Andrews

The Peat Inn is a restaurant with rooms located in the village of Peat Inn, near St Andrews, in Fife (Scotland). The establishment, housed in a building constructed in the mid-18th century, has provided hospitality continuously for around two hundred and fifty years, first as a coaching inn and later as a hotel, pub and restaurant. Since June 2006 it has been owned by Geoffrey and Katherine Smeddle, who run it personally.

A Michelin star and seasonal cuisine

The restaurant holds a Michelin star, a distinction it has maintained since 2010, and offers modern Scottish cuisine based on classical techniques. The menu is built around seasonal menus made with selected Scottish ingredients, with dishes of intense flavours and careful presentation. The kitchen team is led by Geoffrey Smeddle, chef-patron, who before devoting himself to restaurants completed a university degree in History. In addition to the Michelin star, the establishment has been awarded a grade of 8 out of 10 in The Good Food Guide and is ranked 22nd in its list of the top 50 restaurants in the United Kingdom.

Dining spaces

The restaurant has three elegant dining rooms that create an intimate setting for lunch and dinner. The original log fire is preserved in the reception lounge, contributing to an atmosphere of relaxed refinement. The service accompanies the experience from the welcome aperitif to the final coffee and digestif.

Accommodation: eight suites in The Residence

The accommodation, called The Residence, consists of eight individually decorated suites. Seven of them are arranged over two levels, with bedroom and bathroom on the lower floor and a separate living room on the upper mezzanine. The eighth suite offers similar facilities on a single level, designed for those who prefer to avoid stairs.

The office is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 to 19:00.
