About Strangers Coffee Company

Strangers Coffee Company began in Norwich in 2009 with Alex Sargeant and Samuel Maddocks; William Maddocks joined in 2014. The project connects roasting with three city locations and an online store. Each site plays a different role: a café with seating, a roastery serving takeout, and another address devoted to takeout coffee.

Strangers Coffee House, at 21 Pottergate, Norwich NR2 1DS, has indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeout. The roastery, at 10 Dove Street, Norwich NR2 1DE, offers takeout service. All Saints Green, at 14 All Saints Green, Norwich NR1 3NA, follows that format as well. The warehouse and registered address are at 122 Ber Street, Norwich NR1 3ES; their function differs from the coffee-serving locations.

The selection centers on arabica coffees and changes with crop cycles while retaining some regular offerings. Brazil Fazenda Bom Jesus Natural, Ethiopia Idido Anaerobic Natural, and Colombia Campo Santo Washed are among the catalog’s coffees. Origin and processing distinguish a natural, washed, or anaerobically fermented coffee before the choice between drinking it in the city and purchasing it for home.

Roasting work includes tasting samples before purchasing green coffee, developing a profile on the roaster, and analyzing batches after roasting. Strangers presents traceability from farm to roastery as part of that selection. Product descriptions add flavor profiles: Bom Jesus is described with chocolate, hazelnut, and praline; Idido with mango, papaya, and melon. Those references guide comparisons among the catalog’s coffees.

Home purchases distinguish whole beans from grinds for espresso, moka pots, filter coffee, or French press. The store’s offerings include 250-gram, 500-gram, and one-kilogram sizes. Decaf coffees and blends extend the options, alongside brewing guides. The information connects the chosen bag with the method used in the kitchen.

Wholesale service brings these coffees to other United Kingdom businesses. In Norwich, baristas prepare espresso, flat whites, and filter coffee and provide guidance on brewing and processing. The distinction between Pottergate and the takeout locations allows a visit to be chosen by format: sitting inside or outside, collecting a cup, or visiting the place where the coffee is roasted.
