Renault and Dacia dealership in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth

Mitchells Group is an official Renault and Dacia dealership with a presence in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, in the English county of Suffolk. The company presents itself as a specialist in vehicle sales and maintenance, with a history dating back to before the Second World War, when the original workshop was established in Lowestoft. In the 1960s it operated as a Rootes Group agent from the Terminus on London Road, in Pakefield (Lowestoft), and in 1974 it obtained the Renault franchise. In 1979 it moved to its current location on Long Road, where it has continued to expand its facilities.

Facilities and workshop capacity

The Long Road site has a customer waiting area and showroom enlarged in 2000, as well as additional workshops added in 2004. It has eight workshop bays, including MOT testing, and employs ten Renault-qualified technicians. The complex also includes a valeting and preparation centre and a Renault Rapide centre.

In October 2005, a new Renault Minute Centre opened on Suffolk Road, Gorleston (Great Yarmouth), offering quick while-you-wait fitting, used vehicle sales and a showroom. According to the company, staffing doubled in just 18 months to meet growing customer demand.

New and used vehicles

The dealership sells the range of new Renault passenger cars, with models such as Renault 5, Renault 4, Clio, Captur, New Mégane, Symbioz, Scénic, Austral and Rafale, as well as the Twingo announced as a forthcoming addition. It also offers Renault PRO+ commercial vehicles and a selection of used and nearly new vehicles with warranty.

The company states that its catalogue includes 151 vehicles available and that it allows reserving a vehicle with a £99 fully refundable deposit, with the option to buy online. It also offers specific deals on models such as Captur Evolution TCe 115, Scénic Techno 220 hp extended range and Scénic Techno Esprit Alpine 220 hp extended range, with specific finance conditions.

Aftersales services and electric mobility

In the aftersales area, Mitchells Group offers Renault servicing for vehicles under three years old, Advantage servicing for vehicles over three years old, Advantage servicing for light commercial vehicles (LCV), Vehicle Health Check and its own service plan (Mitchells Service Plan). It also manages service appointment booking and MOT testing.

The company provides advice on electrification, with information on electric and hybrid vehicles, Mobilize home charging solutions and the Mobilize charge pass, which gives access to 50,000 charge points in the UK and more than 700,000 in Europe. It also offers finance services, valuation and sale of the customer's vehicle, and discount programmes for emergency services personnel (Blue Light / DDS) and for Motability customers, where it presents itself as a premium partner.

Group expansion and awards

In April 2018 the group launched Mitchells Pre-owned, a division dedicated to vehicles from brands other than Renault and Dacia, with the aim of broadening its offering while maintaining its customer service focus. In 2021 the group expanded outside Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth with the addition of Kerridge Halesworth, a family business with more than 100 years of activity in the area, of which 50 as a main Vauxhall dealership. The operation retained experienced staff and plans to expand the used vehicle display and regain main franchised dealership status.

The company states that it has won the Renault and Dacia dealer of the year award on several occasions, and at the time of analysis displayed the Groupe Renault Dealer of the Year badge. Mitchells Group highlights staff retention as a key factor in maintaining quality service.
