Hazev
Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant, café, and bar in Canary Wharf, with meze, grilled dishes, house pastries, and event spaces.
About Hazev
Hazev overlooks the water in Canary Wharf and brings together a restaurant, café, and bar at one address. Its name combines the Turkish words haz, enjoyment, and ev, home. A collaboration between the Tas and Haz groups created an Anatolian and Eastern Mediterranean food offering in London’s Docklands.
The story connects with Onder Sahan, founder of the Tas group, who opened his first restaurant on The Cut in 1999. Hazev develops that connection through cooking that retains Turkish references and presents contemporary versions of its dishes. Seasonal ingredients, spices, and grilled preparations organize much of the repertoire.
Meze provide a way to begin with several sharing plates, while the menu incorporates seafood and charcoal-grilled meats. Vegetarian and vegan choices have their own presence. The format allows a meal centered on small dishes or a progression continuing with a main course.
Meze, Sahan, Ekin, and Group Set menus offer other ways to combine the meal, with different selections of starters and mains. Pastries are made on site and include baklava and künefe. An in-house pastry chef connects menu desserts with the baked goods accompanying café service.
The café has a different character from the main dining room. It serves traditional and herbal teas, Turkish coffee, and barista-prepared coffee, alongside breakfasts with olives, cheese, salad, bread, jam, and honey. The breakfast and brunch menu continues through the day, allowing an early meeting and an afternoon break in the same space.
The bar adds Turkish wines, raki, spirits, and other drinks in a waterfront setting. The restaurant has outdoor seating and a private dining room; the café is described as seating fifty people, while the bar accommodates events for up to one hundred guests. These are capacities for different spaces rather than one figure applying to every celebration.
Hazev is at Discovery Dock Apartments West, 2 South Quay Square, London E14 9RT. Events can take the form of a business lunch, birthday, private dinner, or another gathering size, with an adapted menu. Restaurant, café, and bar have separate services and hours, explaining how a visit changes with the time of day and occasion.
