About Fine Food Specialist
Drogo Montagu founded Fine Food Specialist in 2010 after working in kitchens across several European countries. He wanted to make ingredients he had used in restaurants available to home cooks. At first, he selected products and delivered them by bicycle around London; the business grew into a warehouse operation at New Covent Garden Market, a central point in the city’s restaurant supply network.
The selection combines seasonal British foods with ingredients from elsewhere. Japanese and British wagyu beef, fish, shellfish, truffles, and cheeses feature in the range. The catalog distinguishes cuts, presentations, and storage, with fresh and frozen offerings supporting purchases for a particular recipe or a professional kitchen.
The caviar section includes beluga, oscietra, and sevruga, alongside gifts and sets. Truffles are organized into black, white, and fresh selections, while mushrooms include morels, porcini, girolles, and Asian varieties. Seasonal collections add products such as zucchini flowers, San Marzano PDO tomatoes, radicchio, and artichokes, depending on the current offering.
Cheeses span French, Italian, Spanish, and British options, with board selections and truffle varieties. Pantry items include pasta, butters, stocks, sauces, and condiments. Edible flowers and microgreens provide ingredients for finishing a dish, while fruit purees offer useful formats for desserts and other preparations.
The catering range focuses on small pieces and preparation products: blinis, brioche, tartlet shells, slider buns, and frozen pastries. Listings identify size, quantity, and product condition. Vegan and halal selection sections organize specific alternatives within the shop rather than defining the entire catalog.
Drogo’s Kitchen brings together the founder’s recipes and videos showing how to use the ingredients. A dish such as girolles with persillade, a parsley and garlic preparation, connects a purchase with a cooking technique. The archive provides a route from an unfamiliar ingredient to a recognizable dish, with ideas for home cooking or preparing a meal for guests.
Consumer sales operate alongside wholesale for registered UK businesses. Orders allow future dates to be chosen, with the delivery option selected during purchase. The New Covent Garden Market base supports relationships with market suppliers; Fine Food Specialist’s work is to select, store, and distribute a specialized pantry bridging home and professional cooking.
