About The Goring
The Goring, a family-run five-star hotel in Belgravia
The Goring is a five-star hotel located in the London district of Belgravia, a short walk from Buckingham Palace, St James's Park, Chelsea, Westminster and Mayfair. It opened its doors in 1910, when its founder, Otto Goring, built it for the enjoyment of his guests, and it has remained in the hands of the same family for four generations ever since. The company presents itself as London's only family-owned five-star hotel and as the only hotel to have been granted a Royal Warrant by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Accommodation and spaces
The hotel offers rooms and suites designed by leading British designers, with views over its gardens or the quiet Belgravia street where it is located. Stays are described as an experience similar to that of a private London residence, with up-to-date technology. Among the facilities is a large private garden, presented as the largest of its kind in central London, conceived as a space for rest and gathering.
Dining: The Dining Room and afternoon tea
The Dining Room restaurant holds a Michelin star and has undergone an extensive refurbishment. The hotel also offers its celebrated afternoon tea on The Veranda and has a cocktail bar, described in its own communications as one of the loveliest in London, with its own mixologists and a menu that includes a signature cocktail made with raspberry and yuzu syrup, vodka and champagne. The dining offering is completed by four-course dinners and evenings with jazz music in the bar.
Events and celebrations
The establishment has spaces for meetings and celebrations, and hosts festive events and private celebrations. Its offering in this area appears alongside the weddings, meetings and festivities sections of the site.
Hotel School and sustainability
In 2017 the hotel launched Hotel School, a training project in collaboration with The Passage that teaches basic hospitality skills to people affected by homelessness, with a mentoring programme aimed at building sustained careers in the sector. On environmental matters, the hotel holds EarthCheck certification and declares actions aimed at energy saving, waste reduction and support for the local community.
Service and team
The staff, described as long-serving and stable, ranges from bowler-hatted doormen to waiters and bartenders; the hotel attributes attentive, anticipatory service to this team. The company features on its website recognition from media such as The Daily Telegraph and Condé Nast Traveller.
