CRU Kafe
London organic and Fairtrade coffee brand with Nespresso Original-compatible pods, beans, ground coffee, brewing bags, and wholesale supply.
About CRU Kafe
CRU Kafe began in 2013 with a scene at home: founder Bodil saw a friend refilling Nespresso capsules with her favorite specialty coffee. That observation led to a business combining the capsule format with selected beans and a particular sourcing approach. Its first product was the Flat White capsule; the brand has since expanded the ways coffee can be prepared at home and in professional settings.
Capsules sit alongside whole-bean and ground coffee and brewing bags, as well as machines and accessories. The collection includes Organic Colombian, Organic Espresso, and Organic Decaf, with boxes combining several blends. Capsules are intended for Nespresso Original machines; they do not fit Vertuo, Dolce Gusto, or Tassimo systems. CRU Kafe is independent of Nestlé and Nespresso.
Origin is central to the selection. The company works with coffees from places such as Ethiopia, Colombia, Honduras, and Sumatra, relating flavor differences to soil, rainfall, sunshine, and processing. This approach explains why the capsule is not presented as one uniform product: blend, body, and aromatic profile remain part of the choice, even when preparation is brief.
The brand bases its sourcing on organic and Fairtrade coffee. Its information identifies Soil Association organic certification and work with Fairtrade producers and cooperatives. That system’s minimum price and premium connect with investments in producer communities. The company’s published history dates organic certification to 2015 and B Corporation certification to 2021.
In 2018, CRU moved from plastic capsules to recyclable aluminum. Podback collects used capsules through the options available in each UK area, while boxes and other materials have their own recycling instructions. Attention to packaging accompanies attention to coffee: preserving it and collecting the packaging after use are separate parts of the same format.
Subscriptions allow blends, quantities, and frequency to be changed, a delivery to be brought forward, or the service to be paused or canceled. Help information states there is no minimum commitment or cancellation fee and changes must be made before the next order date. The money-back guarantee is requested within thirty days of receipt and covers capsules, brewing bags, whole-bean coffee, and ground coffee.
Hotel and office supply brings the selection into other settings, with wholesale inquiries distinguished from consumer support. The company’s mailing address is WeWork, 5 Merchant Square, London; it is not presented as a public coffee shop. CRU centers its work on purchasing and preparing coffee, from a capsule at home to service in a business.
