About Ambala
Ambala, an Indian confectionery with tradition since 1965
Ambala is an Indian-inspired confectionery and snack company that presents itself as one of the most prestigious brands in the sector. It was founded in 1965 by Mohammed Ali Khan, a businessman who named the firm after the Indian city where he was born. The company's hallmark remains the founder's original recipes and the use of only premium quality ingredients, combining tradition and innovation in its range.
Mithai, sweets and savouries: the range
The main activity revolves around mithai, traditional Indian confectionery, which the company organises into several families: mixed mithai, ladoo, barfi, halwa, sheera (wet), pre-packed mithai and other varieties. This offering is complemented by desserts, savouries, snacks, pickles, chutneys and sauces. The store states that all products are freshly made in store.
Among the standout products in the range are Special Ladoo, Special Pera, Rasmalai, Dubai Chocolate Ladoo, Dry Mix Mithai, Chocolate Barfi, the Ambala Mixed Mithai Tin and Punjabi Samosa. The site presents them as its all-time bestsellers and shows reference prices for several of them.
Celebrations and corporate orders
Ambala sells gift boxes and products designed for special occasions. Its celebrations range includes options for baby showers, engagements, Eid, Diwali and weddings, as well as a dedicated line for corporate orders. The company describes these items as gifts crafted for special moments.
In-house production and expansion from London
The corporate story places the origin of the business in 1964, when Mohammed Ali Khan began creating his products in High Holborn, London. A year later he opened the first store on Drummond Street, in the London district of NW1. From there the company went through a series of expansions: a second manufacturing site in Commercial Road (London E1), larger premises in Narrow Street (London E15), a move to Hackney Marshes (London E9) and the opening of a purpose-built facility in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. Growth also included an additional factory in St Albans and, between 2002 and 2005, the launch of its website to bring the products to customers.
Online shopping, collection and delivery
The company sells through its website and maintains a network of physical stores. The site offers next day delivery to eligible postcodes and a free 1h Click & Collect service from the nearest store. The company retains its original motto: to always provide its customers with the very best.
