Restaurant Interlude, fine dining at Leonardslee House

Restaurant Interlude is a Michelin-starred and Michelin Green Star restaurant located in Leonardslee House, within the historic gardens of Leonardslee Estate, in Horsham (West Sussex). It opened its doors in October 2018 following the restoration of the house, and since 2019 it has retained its Michelin star, to which four AA rosettes have been added since 2020.

Seasonal tasting menu

The establishment offers a multi-course tasting menu that changes with the seasons, created by Executive Chef Jean Delport and his team. The offering draws on ingredients foraged directly from the 240 acres of Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens, as well as from its own kitchen garden, from local farmers who follow ecological principles and from traditional products. The kitchen combines classic and modern techniques with respect for natural rhythms and the seasons.

Staying at Leonardslee House

Leonardslee House, a Grade II listed building, has ten boutique rooms designed by British design houses and has received a Michelin Key. Guests can stay overnight and enjoy the dining experience. The house also has a renovated bar area where cocktails are prepared with ingredients and inspiration from the gardens, accompanied by an extensive international drinks list.

Surroundings and gardens

Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens is a 240-acre Grade I listed garden with seven lakes, restored in what is described as the largest garden restoration in England. It includes the Rock Garden, the Loderi Garden and the Coronation Garden, with cultivars from Sir Edmund Loder. The landscape changes with the seasons and offers scenic viewpoints. Since 2024, Leonardslee House has also opened its doors as a wedding venue.

Recognition and recent activity

The restaurant has been included in the SquareMeal guide to the best restaurants in West Sussex and among the best restaurants with rooms in the United Kingdom. The estate's art gallery, located next to the entrance of Leonardslee House, exhibits smaller-format works for sale and allows visitors to meet the artists. The analysed record also shows content on autumn foraging, summer flavours, English sparkling wine tastings and seasonal stays.
