Mallard Point Vineyard & Distillery
Family-run single-estate vineyard and distillery in Essendine, with tours, tastings, and estate-made wines and spirits.
About Mallard Point Vineyard & Distillery
In Essendine, about four miles from Stamford, Mallard Point brings a vineyard, winery, and distillery together on a family-run estate that handles production from grape to bottle. The first vines were planted in 2019, and the vineyard now has more than 18,500 cool-climate vines. Its plantings include varieties such as Bacchus, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir; the family also makes gin and other spirits on the property.
The guided visit is designed to show the work behind each glass. The tour walks through the vineyard rows and continues into the winery, where the process is explained and, depending on the season, visitors sample wines from tank or bottle. Tastings include guided sampling. Guests can also reserve a local cheese and charcuterie box, a simple way to share food with a view of the vines.
The experience is best enjoyed with a reservation and clothing suited to walking outdoors, especially when the ground is wet or the weather is cool. Regular tours are scheduled from March through September, while the shop and visits have specific opening hours, so check availability before making the trip. For travelers looking for a countryside experience centered on production—not just a wine shop—Mallard Point offers a direct look at a small single-estate operation.
