About Your Money Claim

Your Money Claim, financial claims in the United Kingdom

Your Money Claim is a British firm dedicated to handling claims for the mis-selling of financial products. Its presentation positions it as a sector leader since 2010 and states it has recovered over £50 million for its clients. The company works with UK consumers who took out car finance, GAP insurance, payment protection insurance (PPI), packaged bank accounts or who paid a tenancy deposit.

Car finance and discretionary commission

The company focuses much of its activity on claims arising from motor finance. It explains that, in many contracts, the dealership did not inform the customer of the amount of commission paid to it by the lender. These commissions fall under the so-called Discretionary Commission Arrangements (DCA), arrangements that incentivised dealerships to increase the interest rate to boost the lender's profit and, with it, the commission received.

According to the firm's account, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) became aware of the problem in 2016, although DCAs were not banned until 2021. In August 2025 the Supreme Court ruled that many of these arrangements between lenders and dealerships were unfair and often unlawful. On 30 March 2026 the FCA announced the creation of a Redress Scheme, a compensation regime that acknowledges that UK consumers might not recover all of the overpaid interest. The scheme provides for compensation of commission deemed excessive — set at 39% of the interest payable and 10% of the amount borrowed — and also for exclusivity arrangements between lenders and dealerships, unless that tie was obvious to the customer. Your Money Claim notes that some contracts that do not meet the scheme's criteria could be claimed through alternative legal routes.

GAP insurance and payment protection

The company considers GAP insurance to be the next mis-selling scandal and states it has submitted evidence of systemic practices to the FCA and the Financial Ombudsman Service. It describes that this product was usually sold alongside vehicle finance, with the premium deducted from the deposit or financed within the contract itself. Commissions paid to those distributing the insurance often exceeded 50% of the amount paid by the consumer, and the firm claims to have seen commissions as high as 86.7%. It also detects discretionary commission arrangements in the sale of GAP and cases where the product did not suit the customer's needs or would not have covered the contingency.

In the area of PPI, Your Money Claim recalls that, although the general claim deadline has passed, those whose claims were rejected or who received a partial payout after August 2017 might still have options. The firm works with an associated law firm on a Group Litigation Order estimated at up to £18 billion, to which more than 330,000 clients and over 1.2 million cases have joined. The company offers to obtain the lender's documentation if the client no longer has it and to review whether the case can be included in the collective action. It notes that PPI stopped being added to credit contracts around 2012-2013.

Packaged accounts, deposits and debt

The firm also handles claims for packaged or fee-paying bank accounts, which it considers mis-sold to millions of UK consumers, with approximately one in five affected. It also offers services related to tenancy deposit claims and debt solutions: in the latter area it refers to Angel Advance, a specialist provider that allows users to obtain advice and solutions through its online platform, with support from specialists when requested.

Claims process and customer service

The service includes determining whether the client may be eligible for compensation for mis-selling and liaising with the lender or dealership at every stage of the process. The company warns that consumers are not obliged to use its services: they can submit their claim for free to the company they are complaining about and, if rejected, to the Financial Ombudsman Service. It also advises against starting a new claim on the same finance agreement if one has already been submitted through another professional representative.

The testimonials on its website come from clients in locations such as Brentwood, Highbridge, Motherwell, Wigan, Pontypridd, Bolton, Oldham, Skegness and Prudhoe. They highlight frequent communication during the process, the ease of the procedure and the quick resolution of cases.
