Fox & Edwards Events
Organizer of British heritage-railway outings, with onboard meals, family programs, Christmas departures, and Flying Scotsman trips.
About Fox & Edwards Events
Julie Fox and Olly Edwards began working together in late 2017, brought together by a university course and an interest in heritage. Preparing a commemoration of the centenary of the end of World War I, with railways, bands, and personal stories, led to Fox & Edwards Events. After the pandemic, the company focused on bringing visitors to Britain’s heritage railways.
Its work involves organizing outings on heritage lines, hiring a carriage or an entire train and combining the journey with another experience. Onboard food, family themes, and particular locomotives give each departure its identity. Julie retired from the business in early 2026, while Olly continues with the event team.
Food-focused journeys include fish-and-chips and cream-tea options served on trips in historic carriages. Listed lines include the Great Central Railway, Ecclesborne Valley Railway, Watercress Line, Bluebell Railway, and Swanage Railway. Browsing is organized by region so visitors can choose an outing near home or their vacation destination.
The selection extends to Yorkshire, Northumberland, Essex, Norfolk, Wales, and Scotland, with railways such as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Epping Ongar, Gwili, Llangollen & Corwen, and Bo’ness & Kinneil. On each outing, the partner railway operates the train, while Fox & Edwards coordinates bookings and the activity program.
Christmas departures include encounters with Santa and treats for children; Flying Scotsman mainline excursions have a separate section. Gift vouchers can be used on many journeys, and accessibility guides accompany preparation. The company also describes investments in carriages to improve the experience and visitor access.
The office is listed at Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre, Saltergate, Chesterfield S40 1UT. Boarding takes place at the railway and departure location for each trip, rather than this administrative address. The company explains that a steam locomotive may be replaced by a diesel for operational reasons or lineside fire risk, with an additional steam alternative under its terms. That distinction is part of how an outing on historic trains operates.
