Prime Steak & Grill
Steak restaurants inspired by the New York steakhouse, with locations in Chandler’s Cross, St Albans, Beaconsfield, and Berkhamsted.
About Prime Steak & Grill
Prime Steak & Grill takes the New York steakhouse as its starting point and adapts it to a British setting. Terry Greenhill and Ferdi Pacelli opened the first Prime in 2014; the project has developed across several locations, with beef at its center and a selection of wines, spirits, and cocktails to accompany the meal. Its American inspiration sits alongside a choice of beef from the Scottish Highlands.
The brand describes its beef sourcing in terms of responsible farming and develops a menu that changes with the seasons. Group chef Jamie Robertson joined in 2020 after a career that includes kitchens associated with Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver. That background contributes to an offering centered on cuts of beef, without requiring every location to be understood as a copy of a single dining room.
Sunday has its own place in the offering, with roasts, Yorkshire pudding, and the restaurant’s potatoes. On Mondays, the bring-your-own-bottle program allows diners to have their own wine without a corkage charge. Private dining and group events expand the restaurants’ uses, which also include gatherings with bowl food and drinks.
In Chandler’s Cross, Prime occupies The Clarendon on Redhall Lane, Rickmansworth WD3 4LU. The St Albans restaurant is at 83–85 London Road, AL1 1LN; the Beaconsfield location is at 180–182 Maxwell Road, HP9 1QX. The Berkhamsted restaurant is at 196 High Street, HP4 3BA. These addresses represent separate restaurants and help visitors choose the most suitable location for a trip through Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Secret Garden shares the Berkhamsted address and provides another experience at the same property, with full table service. It operates without cash. Distinguishing this space from the other locations avoids mistaking an offering within the property for a fifth restaurant at a separate address. Prime combines a shared culinary identity with local options for a meal, a Sunday roast, or a celebration.
