About The Lakes Infusion Co.

The Lakes Infusion Co., artisan infusions from the Lake District

The Lakes Infusion Co. is a small British company based in Burneside, Cumbria, that handcrafts infused honey, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Its range consists of limited-production products, designed both for gifting and for cooking and everyday enjoyment. The company presents itself as a brand with a local character, rooted in the Lake District and making its products in its own kitchen in Burneside.

Origins and journey

The project began with a jar of raspberry honey that its founders, Chris and Kevin, discovered during their honeymoon in Croatia in May 2025. Back in Cumbria, they began experimenting with infusions in small batches until they found the formula they considered balanced. The first product was Raspberry Infused Honey, followed by other honeys, flavoured olive oils, balsamic vinegars, sugars and finishing salts.

Their first market appearance was at the Ambleside Christmas lights switch-on in November 2025. Since then, the company has maintained a presence at markets and events across Cumbria and Lancashire, as well as a growing network of independent stockists.

Products and sales format

The range is organised into several product families:

  • Infused honeys (230 g): raspberry, blackberry, lemon, chilli and vanilla. Raspberry honey is the best-selling product and the first from the company.
  • Infused balsamic vinegars (250 ml): lemon, blackberry and raspberry. They are described as balanced and smooth, suitable for dressings and glazes.
  • Infused olive oils (250 ml): chilli and bay leaf, rosemary and garlic. The rosemary and garlic one was out of stock at the time of analysis.
  • Finishing salts and sugars (70 g): chilli and garlic salt, lemon and thyme salt, lemon sugar and raspberry sugar.
  • Tasting trios (3 × 50 ml): Balsamic Discovery Trio and Olive Oil Discovery Trio.

The catalogue shows prices of £7.95 for the 230 g honey jars, £9.95 for the 250 ml vinegars and oils, £3.95 for the 70 g salts and sugars, and £10.95 for the trios. Some 70 g products include a promotion of three for £10.95.

Production method

The company works in small batches and by hand. Each infusion is made over several days so that the flavours develop naturally. The recipe combines real fruits and botanicals, with the stated aim of achieving balance and a defined character in each product. Production and packaging are done by hand in the Burneside kitchen.

Recognition and public presence

Raspberry Infused Honey received one star at the Great Taste 2026 awards, given after an independent blind tasting by the Guild of Fine Food. The judges praised its colour and clarity, its authentic raspberry flavour and the balance between fruit and honey. The company has also appeared in local media such as The Westmorland Gazette and Lancaster Guardian.

Team and commercial activity

The team consists of Chris, who develops the flavours and makes each batch by hand; Kevin, who brings his design experience to the brand, photography and communication; and Sue, who opened her Burneside kitchen to turn the idea into a business and where the range continues to be produced and packaged by hand. The company serves both individuals and retail outlets and wholesalers, and maintains a contact channel for order enquiries.
