About Eastern Western Motor Group

Eastern Western Motor Group, dealership network in Scotland

Eastern Western Motor Group is a privately owned, independent, family-run car dealership network operating in Scotland. The company presents itself as one of the country's leading private dealer groups and claims to have more than 45 dealerships in its network. Its activities cover the sale of new and used vehicles, the sale of vans and pick-ups, aftersales service, finance and the Motability programme.

Origins and history since 1927

The group was founded in 1927 by John Brown in a rented garage in Edinburgh. Starting from its beginnings with Eastern Motor Company, the company transformed into a multi-franchise group dedicated to selling luxury and volume brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Toyota and Lexus in central Scotland. In 1981, Douglas Brown took over the leadership and under his guidance the group launched centres such as the Newbridge "Luxury Car Village" and its own Car Deal Warehouse brand. Regional expansion continued with the acquisitions of Grassicks and Barnetts Motor Group, as well as the addition of Chery, Audi and Skoda, extending its presence to Tayside, Fife, Stirling and the Scottish Borders.

Brands represented and types of vehicles

The network sells new and used vehicles from a wide range of brands. Car brands include Audi, BMW, Chery, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Nissan, Renault, Skoda, smart, Toyota and Volkswagen. In the commercial vehicle segment, the group offers vans and pick-ups from Maxus, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen, as well as new vans. The used vehicle offering is organised by brand and also by vehicle type, with specific sections for electric and hybrid cars and for 4x4 vehicles. The company also has the Car Deal Warehouse brand for selling used cars.

Aftersales and repair services

The group provides maintenance and repair services through its dealership network. Customers can book a service, and the company has paint and body centres approved by leading automotive brands. These centres offer accident repair, alloy wheel repair, paintless dent removal, cosmetic repair and vehicle detailing. The company also offers a free valuation for those who wish to sell their car.

Finance and mobility

Eastern Western Motor Group offers finance options for vehicle purchases and participates in the Motability programme, aimed at people with disabilities. The group has a specialist team to advise on this programme and on the Motability vehicle offers available in its dealership network. The company also operates EW Leasing, a vehicle leasing service.

Geographic presence and structure

The dealership network extends across various Scottish locations, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, Fife, Dundee, Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. The group includes its own brands such as Luxury Car Village, Grassicks Garage, Prestige Car Detailing and Gogeta Rental. The company's registered office is at 8 Westerton Road, East Mains Industrial Estate, Broxburn, West Lothian EH52 5AU.

Employment and corporate culture

The company describes itself as one of the oldest family-owned motor retailers in the country and maintains an active recruitment policy for various roles across its dealership network. Its customer service standard is built around the "Brilliant at the B.A.S.I.C.S" programme, focused on positive behaviour, attitude, support, ideas, celebration and friendliness. The group states its long-standing business principle as "making luxury cars affordable" and says it prioritises multi-generational relationships based on trust and integrity.
