About IQ Mobile
IQ Mobile, mobile virtual network operator on the EE network
IQ Mobile is a UK mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that buys capacity on the EE network and sells it directly. According to its own presentation, this allows it to offer the same 99% population coverage in 4G and 5G as EE customers without paying a premium-network price. The company sells SIM Only plans, eSIMs, travel SIMs, easy-to-use phones for older customers and portable mobile routers. Nothing is on a contract and the support team is in Bath, not in an overseas call centre.
SIM Only plans and eSIMs
The main offering is monthly plans with no contract, cancellable at any time. All include unlimited UK calls and texts and can be changed or cancelled whenever you want. The catalogue shows the following tiers:
- Calls and texts only: no data, £7/month.
- 3 GB: £10/month, for light use.
- 10 GB: £12.50/month, for casual use.
- 30 GB: £15/month, for daily use.
- 100 GB: £25/month, for heavy users.
- Unlimited data: £30/month, for high-usage users.
The physical SIM or eSIM costs a one-off £10. The monthly plan is chosen when you activate, not at the time of purchase. The eSIM is activated by scanning a QR code that is emailed within a few hours, not instantly, and is compatible with most phones from 2019 onwards, including the iPhone XS. The physical SIM is sent by free standard delivery in 3–5 working days, with an express option available.
Travel SIM and roaming
For travel, IQ Mobile sells the IQ Go SIM for Europe for £20 up front and £20 a year, and the iqtravel.net eSIMs that cover more than 100 countries. Roaming in Europe (Zone 1) is included under the Roam Like At Home regime: you can use 25% of your data allowance in that zone, and calls and texts are deducted from your usual UK allowance. Beyond Zone 1, you can add a Roaming Pass: from £7 for a day with 1 GB (Zones 2–3) or £10 (Zones 4–5), and from £20 or £30 for eight days with 5 GB, with nothing charged while the pass is switched off.
Phones for seniors and portable routers
The emporia phone range starts at £55 and includes everything from simple button mobiles to easy-to-use Android smartphones. All have large keys, a loud and clear earpiece and a physical SOS button on the back. Each phone comes with the SIM already installed and the plan set up, ready to use. IQ Mobile also sells 4G and 5G portable routers from £45 that work on the same network as its SIMs, designed for caravans, holiday rentals, site offices or homes waiting for a fibre installation.
Children's plans and discounts
Children's plans block adult content at network level, not through an app that the child can uninstall. As they are monthly, there is no commitment while you work out actual data usage. IQ Mobile also applies a 10% discount on SIM plans for UK students and for blue light workers (police, fire, NHS, ambulance and armed forces), with no verification needed.
Commercial terms and account management
All plans are monthly and can be cancelled without penalty or exit fees. Management, plan changes and cancellation are done at my.helloiq.uk. Payment is by card via Stripe at the time of purchase, and monthly plans are billed from the account portal. To keep your current number, the company says to text PAC to 65075 from your old SIM and provide the code when you activate; the transfer is usually completed within one working day. Unused SIMs, eSIMs and phones can be returned within 30 days for a full refund.
Coverage and signal check
IQ Mobile operates on the EE network, which it describes as the UK's best 5G network, with 99% population coverage in 4G and 5G. The website lets you enter a postcode to check the expected signal at home, at work or on your route, through a coverage page with official network data.
