ProTex was established in Ammanford as a unit focused specifically on garments, curtains, and textiles that ordinary cleaning services may not handle.

The distinction lies in treating each item as a material to understand before cleaning. ProTex studies fibers and finishes and combines specialist equipment with a process the company describes as a spa for fabrics. Its stated goal is not simply to wash an item but to restore it to a like-new condition where possible. The company says its technology can restore more than 90% of textiles that would previously have been replaced; that figure is its own estimate.

Its work includes wedding dresses, designer shoes and handbags, leather goods, curtains and soft furnishings, soft toys, duvets, pillows, and vintage items. The service also takes on sentimental pieces and works with insurers when damage is part of a household claim. For its Lagoon system, the company highlights a dry-to-dry cycle of less than an hour and biodegradable detergents; an initial assessment helps determine how to handle delicate items.

ProTex also offers specialist wedding dress cleaning, intended to prepare a gown for storage after the celebration. The company says it is not a conventional dry cleaner and that its materials expertise lets it handle items that may not be accepted by a neighborhood laundry.
