About Restaurant Gaa
Restaurant Gaa, modern Indian cuisine in Bangkok
Restaurant Gaa is a modern Indian fine dining restaurant located in a 60-year-old traditional Thai house in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. The establishment, led by Chef Garima Arora, opened in 2017 and combines tradition and innovation: classic Indian flavors and techniques are delicately reinterpreted with a contemporary approach.
Recognition and journey
Since its opening in 2017, Gaa has gained international recognition. In 2018 it received its first MICHELIN star, and in 2024 it was awarded a second, making Chef Garima Arora the first and only Indian chef to achieve this recognition.
Culinary offering
The current offering includes the Gaa Signature Tasting Menu, described as a continuous explosion of flavors, textures, and ingredients inspired by the cuisines of India. On weekends, an afternoon tea is served in the lounge, with numerous bites that combine traditional Indian flavors with a modern twist. The creations can be paired with a selection of non-alcoholic pairings, wine, and champagne, all made in-house.
The cellar
The restaurant has its own wine cellar that houses over 2,000 bottles from more than 300 labels selected from around the world.
The space
Gaa occupies a transformed 60-year-old traditional Thai house, preserving original architectural elements reinterpreted with contemporary touches. On the upper floor is the Baan Ruen Thai Dining Room, a lively space with curved ceilings enhanced by a white string installation, The Strings, a modern interpretation of 'Sai Sin' that symbolizes the spiritual connection between diners. On the lower floor, the Garden Room offers an intimate experience with tables wrapped in elegant metallic curtains, creating a private atmosphere bathed in golden tones. The service stations and proximity to the kitchen contribute to a calm and stimulating atmosphere. The weekend afternoon tea is served in The Gaa Lounge, a serene and refined space for the day.
