Acqua Restaurant Bangkok: high-end Italian cuisine in Ploenchit

Acqua Restaurant Bangkok is a fine-dining Italian restaurant located in the Pathum Wan district, in the Ploenchit/Chidlom area of Bangkok. The project is the work of chef and owner Alessandro Frau, who after fourteen years at the helm of Acqua Restaurant on the island of Phuket brought his culinary experience to the centre of the Thai capital. The offering combines centuries-old traditional Italian recipes with current culinary techniques and a contemporary approach.

A fine dining concept with an informal Italian style

The venue, which seats 60 diners, presents itself as an urban and more refined version of the Phuket restaurant. The concept combines fine-dining service with a relaxed, informal Italian-style atmosphere, supported by careful lighting and a musical selection designed to accompany the experience. The menu includes a broad à la carte offering and seasonal specials.

Imported ingredients and an award-winning wine cellar

The restaurant works with a wide range of imported products, mostly from Italy, but also from France, Spain and Japan. The stated priority is the quality of the ingredients as the basis of all the creations on the menu. The wine cellar brings together more than 780 labels from different parts of the world and has been recognised as one of the best wine lists in Bangkok.

Recognition for chef Alessandro Frau

Chef Alessandro Frau has received various accolades during his career at the helm of Acqua. In November 2025 he was distinguished with two knives at The Best Chef Awards 2025/2026. Previously, in March 2024, he was honoured as Asia-Pacific's Top Chef at the NOW Travel Asia Awards 2024, at a gala held in Bangkok. These awards recognise culinary excellence in the region and highlight the work of chefs with innovative approaches focused on diner satisfaction.

A second location in Phuket

In addition to the Bangkok restaurant, Acqua has a location in Phuket, the island where the project began operating before settling in the capital. The Bangkok version is conceived as a more urban and sophisticated evolution of that first venue.
