About Canelmar S.A.
Live seafood trading
Canelmar S.A. was established in 1985 to market live shellfish. It initially focused on native species from the Cantabrian Sea and expanded into export markets, primarily in Europe, in the late 1980s.
Facilities and logistics
The company operates live-shellfish holding facilities on Campiello Beach in Cadavedo, in the municipality of Valdés in western Asturias. The 3,000-square-meter site includes offices, warehouses, cold-storage rooms, and holding tanks. Because it is about 40 meters from the sea, the tanks can use a nearly constant seawater-pumping system. Office space covers 90 square meters.
Canelmar transports seafood in specialized live-haul vehicles equipped to control water temperature and oxygen levels, driven by professional operators.
