Oller is a family-owned company with more than 130 years of experience making cork stoppers for premium sparkling wines. Founded in 1892, it designs and produces closures intended to preserve and enhance the qualities of fine sparkling wines. The company operates in the Les Gavarres area of Empordà, Catalonia, and exports to wineries around the world.

Products and Specialties

Oller offers a range of stoppers suited to different types of sparkling wine:

• Natural cork stoppers: Available with one, two, or three natural cork discs (1D, 2D, and 3D). Each piece is selected according to strict density and visual-uniformity criteria. The 3D version is intended for premium wines and extended aging; 2D is the industry standard for quality sparkling wines; and 1D is an efficient option for young sparkling wines.
• Special stoppers: Custom projects for exceptional bottle formats such as Jeroboams and Methuselahs, with individual material selection and extensive quality controls.
• Jano: A next-generation technical stopper designed for stable performance, controlled permeability, and consistency from one unit to the next—an option for wineries seeking dependable results.

Technical Support for Wineries

Oller advises wineries on both mechanical and sensory performance. Mechanical support covers matching the stopper to the bottling process and production speed, integrating it with winery equipment, and optimizing dimensional recovery for safe opening. Sensory work includes tasting sessions and comparative trials, sensory and chemical analyses, and guidance on matching the closure to a wine’s aging process and aromatic profile.

Research and Development

The company’s research and development department studies cork in depth, from its structure and chemical composition to its influence on wine aging. Oller collaborates with research centers, enology institutes, and laboratories in Spain and abroad to validate new processes and develop more sustainable solutions.
