About Akelarre Restaurante y Hotel by Pedro Subijana
Akelarre, a three-Michelin-star restaurant and hotel in San Sebastián
Akelarre Pedro Subijana is a restaurant and hotel on the slopes of Monte Igeldo in San Sebastián. Founded in 1970, the restaurant has held three Michelin stars since 2007, following 25 years with two. The project presents itself as one of the few places in the world to unite a three-Michelin-star restaurant with its own hotel.
Dining at Akelarre and Espazio Oteiza
Pedro Subijana leads the Akelarre restaurant, serving contemporary cooking overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. The property also includes Espazio Oteiza, a bar-restaurant with broad terraces, its own à la carte menu, a snack selection and a cocktail bar. A wine cellar and a cookery classroom complete the food and drink spaces.
Rooms and suites
Akelarre added a hotel in 2017. Its room and suite categories are Superior Horizonte, Junior Suite Panorámica and Akelarre Suite Océano. The accommodation is designed as an extension of the restaurant experience in the same coastal setting.
Additional facilities and services
The property includes spa and wellness facilities as well as additional experiences for guests. Its position on Monte Igeldo provides views across the Cantabrian Sea.
Philosophy and history
Akelarre describes its development as the work of a restless creative mind and a constant drive to improve. That ambition led the original restaurant to grow into a complete hospitality experience, with close attention to the details intended to make a stay memorable.
