About Qida (Asistenplus)

In-home care for older adults

Qida is an in-home care company specializing in services for older adults and people with support needs. It operates under the Asistenplus brand, now integrated into Qida, and serves several autonomous communities in Spain. Its model combines caregiver selection with ongoing support from its own Social Care Coordinator.

Care services

  • Hourly caregivers: weekday care starting at two hours per day, intended to help the person receiving care maintain independence.
  • Live-in caregivers, 24 hours: specialized day and night support at home, 365 days a year.
  • Weekend caregivers: a professional provides care for a few hours or throughout the day on weekends.

Services can include help with bathing and grooming, medication administration, repositioning, and motor or cognitive rehabilitation exercises, among other tasks. The company says it adapts each service to the family's needs.

Service area

Qida serves Catalonia, Madrid, the Basque Country, Navarre, the Valencian Community, Galicia, Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, Cantabria, Castile and León, and Andalusia. The company says it is expanding into additional autonomous communities.

How the service works

The first step is to request information by phone or through a form. A Family Advisor listens to the family's needs and prepares one or more customized quotes. After acceptance, an Individual Work Plan (PTI) is created by video call or phone, a suitable caregiver is selected, and Social Security registration is handled. The company says service usually begins three to five days after the quote is accepted, with an urgent process available when needed.

The Social Care Coordinator

The Social Care Coordinator is central to Qida's model. These professionals have degrees in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or physical therapy, as well as experience in health and social care. Each coordinator manages no more than 80 cases to allow for personalized service. Duties include preparing the PTI, conducting follow-up visits, guiding and training the family and caregiver, resolving issues, and coordinating with health and social services. The team is available 365 days a year, with active weekend coverage.

Company information

Qida was founded in 2018 by Oriol Fuertes, an MBA graduate of London Business School with experience advising health and social care governments. The company says it has about 200 employees and 150 professionals at its offices. It is accredited by three regional governments and says it is the only in-home care company in Spain that audits its social impact. According to its figures, it has provided more than 5,000,000 hours of care, served more than 7,000 families, and reports a 98% satisfaction rate. It also offers related products and services to support independent living at home, including mobility equipment, physical therapy, and speech-language therapy, through a partner network.
