Playa de El Confital

A coastal enclave on La Isleta with rocky shore, pools formed at low tide, volcanic paths and broad views over the city.

About Playa de El Confital

El Confital changes the pace of Las Palmas without leaving the municipality. On the La Isleta peninsula, this protected landscape combines a rocky shore, volcanic hills and views of the island’s northern coast. LPA’s tourism office says it can be reached on foot from Las Canteras along the seafront promenade or from the Las Coloradas neighbourhood; arriving on foot is part of the experience and makes the transition from urban beach to natural landscape clear.

The city’s tourism office describes a seven-kilometre coastal trail, taking about two hours, from the El Atlante monument to the bay. Fifteen interpretive panels explain the geology, habitats, Guanarteme’s surf culture and local history. Paths across the hillside pass places such as Cueva de los Canarios, as well as the remains of bunkers, a coastal battery and trenches.

The beach and natural pools offer another reason to linger: the pools form at low tide, while Cruz de El Confital is a landmark for watching the sunset. The ground is rocky, so this is not a sandy beach suited to every kind of visit; sea state and tide matter as much as the walk.

Visible Google Maps comments describe a place people value for walking, switching off, photographing the landscape and mountain biking. The city’s tourism guide also highlights its geological, ethnographic and historical significance. El Confital suits visitors who want to walk and observe at an unhurried pace more than those expecting beach services at every turn.
