About Arroz Torca
Rice for paella, risotto, and catering
Arroz Torca selects, processes, and packs rice from its base in Burjassot, Valencia. Its range centers on bomba rice alongside other varieties for Mediterranean cooking, paella, and catering.
Rice varieties
- Torca Bomba: a round, pearly grain that expands during cooking without readily splitting and requires more water than ordinary rice.
- Rey de Arroces Bomba: a botanically controlled variety grown in the rice fields of Valencia's Albufera Natural Park.
- Bombita by Torca: a short, round, pearly grain with high amylose content, low stickiness, a firm texture, and good stock absorption.
- Dinamita: short, round rice that absorbs a great deal of liquid and stays intact and separate for hours after cooking, aimed at caterers, takeout meals, and large rice dishes.
- Torca Gran Selección: Marisma rice with large, thick, round grains and a cooking profile similar to traditional rice.
- Torca Especial Paella Valenciana: an extra-grade round rice made from the traditional Bahía and Senía varieties from the Albufera Natural Park.
- Riso Fascino: Carnaroli rice from Piedmont in northern Italy, grown in the Po River basin. Rich in amylose and suited to risotto, it is hulled, milled, and packed at the company's Spanish facilities.
Growing and processing
The company has a drying building, warehouses, and a rice mill in Segorbe, about 55 kilometers from Valencia toward Teruel. In the Alto Palancia district, the facilities sit at more than 400 meters above sea level. The company highlights the area's average annual temperature of 16°C and average relative humidity of 45% as favorable for naturally storing rice.
According to its website, Arroz Torca directly manages and works with farmers on about 1,000 hanegadas—a local land measure—of bomba rice fields around Valencia's Albufera. Its work spans seed selection, cultivation, harvesting, drying, and storage.
