Plantation’s youth soccer landscape is clearest when families separate the city’s volunteer league from the travel-club model. Plantation Athletic League Soccer is a recreational program administered with the City and built around community teams. Plantation FC Rush fields competitive teams, holds tryouts and uses a four-park network for practices and matches. Both serve local children, but the yearly schedule, costs and expectations are far apart.
PAL begins with community recreation
PAL divides soccer by age and gender, starting with a clinic for ages four and five and continuing through high-school-age groups. The current 2026–27 season runs from November into February, and the league’s registration notice says enrollment closed in July, with late requests directed to waiting lists. The City’s 2026 program catalog lists soccer at $150 for residents and $200 for nonresidents; the younger clinic is $120/$170. A prior season’s city FAQ describes two weekday practices and Saturday games, with a lighter age-appropriate clinic. Ask the Parks and Recreation desk for the next season’s rate and whether financial assistance is open before sending a form.
The City and PAL use multiple fields rather than one campus. New players register in person at Central Park’s Multi-Purpose Building, 9151 NW 2nd Street; the league also uses Pine Island Park and the lighted soccer fields at Seminole Middle School. The City describes PAL as a volunteer-run umbrella that also offers baseball, basketball, flag and tackle football, softball, cheerleading and lacrosse. For game day, the official roster and schedule tell a family which field to navigate to, and the league’s news page carries rainout and team-placement updates.
Rush adds tryouts, travel and a deeper price comparison
Plantation FC Rush lists U6–U19 competitive programs, National Academy teams and camps. Its May 2025 post reports that the U14 National Academy team finished first in Florida and qualified for the national league championships. The club’s 2026–27 tuition page lists $1,550 for U6–U12 and $2,550 for U9–U19, but also displays overlapping U13–U19 prices of $2,750 and $2,950 without clear team labels. Uniforms cost extra, and its financial-assistance form is linked from registration. Those overlapping figures are a reason to request an itemized team offer, not to guess which amount applies.
Rush identifies Pine Island Park, Central Park, PAL Soccer Complex and Stadium, and Sunset Park as training and game locations. Its site says the parks have plentiful parking, restrooms and concessions. A team assignment therefore affects the family’s drive as well as the price; the club’s main address is not a reliable substitute for checking the weekly field. Public feedback about the exact club listing is mixed: some families mention team unity and player development, while others question tryout communication or field assignment. Ask for the selection criteria, written schedule, charges and refund terms before accepting a place.
Where professional soccer fits
Plantation does not have an MLS first-division club based inside the city. Broward’s nearby professional scene includes the women’s Fort Lauderdale United team in USSF Division I’s Gainbridge Super League, playing in Davie; the club’s men are scheduled to join USL League One in 2027. These matches offer a local window into professional soccer, but neither PAL nor Rush should be treated as formally affiliated unless a club documents that relationship. The right question for a child is whether the family wants a flexible local season or a tryout-based commitment with more travel and added fees.
For current registration, begin with the PAL season notices and the City’s youth-sports page; for competitive teams, review Rush registration and financial assistance. Confirm age cutoffs, tryout dates, field, full cost and whether the program can still take a player. That comparison gives families a more useful starting point than treating every soccer shirt in the park as the same kind of club.
Confirm the child’s team, current field assignment and full season cost before registering.
