The Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG) is a state need-based grant for undergraduates attending eligible Oregon colleges and universities. Funding is limited; an SAI within the range does not guarantee an award after appropriations are exhausted.
For 2026–27, requirements include Oregon residency for the 12 months before the term, FAFSA or ORSAA, at least half-time enrollment at a participating school in an eligible degree or training program, financial need, and satisfactory academic progress. The official Student Aid Index ceiling is $8,000. Pell receipt is not necessarily required; the state calculation and SAI use their own rules.
OSAC says awards are made until funds run out, and the final 2026–27 cutoff was May 15, 2026. Awards may be prorated for part-time or part-year enrollment and are not offered for summer. The amount depends on an individual aid package and need; the agency cannot predict when funds will be exhausted.
For 2027–28, FAFSA and ORSAA opened in October 2026: file promptly and check OSAC for the new SAI limit and any cutoff date. OOG consideration begins through FAFSA or ORSAA, and selected students receive an email. Correct application errors and confirm with your college that the award appears in your account.
The agency or institution determines final eligibility and the award under current-cycle rules and available funding. Read the program profile and the administering agency; ask the college for an individual review.
Oregon’s first-come, first-served process makes timing important, but filing alone does not confirm an award. Save the FAFSA or ORSAA confirmation, check that Oregon Student Aid received it, and respond quickly if the agency or school requests corrections. If a student attends less than full time or has a changed enrollment plan, ask how the current formula adjusts the award before using an estimate to make a deposit decision.
