Ohio OCOG: SAI, income, and FAFSA deadline for state grant aid

For 2026–27, eligibility requires SAI up to $3,750 and household income up to $96,000; the FAFSA deadline was October 1.

The Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) is state grant aid for Ohio residents with high financial need in eligible associate, first-bachelor’s, or nursing-diploma programs. It may be used at participating Ohio institutions and some Pennsylvania schools; the state publishes separate tables by sector and enrollment level.

For consideration, the current page requires an SAI of $3,750 or less and household income no higher than $96,000. Students apply by filing FAFSA and listing an eligible institution. Prior-degree and enrollment rules also apply; some community-college students qualify only under specific exceptions, such as certain foster-youth or veteran categories.

2026–27 amounts vary by school and course load. The official table shows $0 for most community-college students, $492 annually for full-time students at public regional campuses, and up to $4,000 at other public main campuses; private institutions have different amounts. Do not rely on a general maximum: the college calculates eligibility after Pell and tuition-specific aid.

The state FAFSA deadline for 2026–27 consideration was October 1, 2026, now passed. If you applied, review your aid package and ask the institution about adjustments, third-term exceptions, or refund policies. For the next year, check the OCOG date before filing FAFSA and verify your campus on the official list.

The agency or institution determines final eligibility and the award under current-cycle rules and available funding. Read the program profile and the administering agency; ask the college for an individual review.

The program’s table is more useful than a single headline maximum because sector and enrollment change the amount, and some listed categories receive no award. Ask the financial-aid office to confirm your institution type, course load, prior-degree status, and whether any exception applies before counting OCOG toward a bill. Since the October 1 date for 2026–27 has passed, focus on whether an application was timely and on the next published cycle date.
