Georgia HOPE Career Grant: eligible certificates and aid by course load

This grant supplements HOPE Grant or Zell Miller Grant for designated certificates and diplomas; amounts vary by credits and program.

Georgia’s HOPE Career Grant supplements the HOPE Grant or Zell Miller Grant for residents pursuing designated workforce diplomas and certificates. It is not a stand-alone scholarship for any certificate: both the program and institution must appear on GSFC’s list for that year. The system targets strategic career fields, and the list can change annually.

The 2026–27 regulation applies HOPE Grant eligibility rules and requires enrollment in an approved diploma or certificate program listed for HOPE Career Grant. Check citizenship/residency, HOPE Grant GPA and progress, eligible institution, and course load. Commercial truck-driving pathways have separate treatment and award amounts.

Current program regulations set fixed term awards by enrolled hours: $500 for 9 or more, $250 for 3–8, and $125 for 1–2. Commercial truck driving may receive up to $1,100 per program under its own scale. Check FY2027 charts rather than reusing FY2026 figures; the award is coordinated with the base grant and college.

File FAFSA or the state application that applies and check GSFC’s current list for your certificate. Contact the college financial-aid office before enrolling to confirm the institution processes HOPE Career Grant, which credit hours count, and which costs are excluded. The college determines final eligibility and reports course load each term.

“Career” does not mean every vocational course qualifies; the institution, diploma, and base-grant eligibility must all match. Read the program profile and the administering office; ask your campus financial-aid office to review your individual file.
