About UZUSHIO KISEN

UZUSHIO KISEN departs from Kameura fishing port, behind the Otsuka Museum of Art, and carries passengers from shore into the strait. The high-speed boat offers a view of the current from the water and approaches the area where the whirlpools form. The trip is short, but it changes the scale of the experience: instead of watching from the bridge, visitors feel the swell, the direction of the flow and the boat’s movement.

Choose the departure time with the tide table in mind. The company and Naruto’s official tourism guide recommend checking the periods of stronger activity before travelling; whirlpools do not appear at the same size or place throughout the day. The operator uses a small high-speed vessel, and Kameura pier is close to Uzu-no-Michi and other park attractions, making it practical to combine the two viewpoints.

Passengers often mention the close approach to the currents, the crew’s friendliness and the excitement of a small boat; some find the ride brief or note that the waves can be felt strongly. The official fare is ¥2,000 for adults and ¥1,000 for elementary school pupils; one preschool child travels free with each full-fare adult. The website says payment is cash only. The city guide lists service from 8 am to 5 pm, with the last boat at 4:30 pm.

The pier is about a five-minute walk from the Otsuka Museum of Art and can be reached by car from Naruto-Kita interchange; parking is beside the boarding area. By bus, the company lists Kameura-guchi on the Naruto Park line. Arrive with time to spare, check the tide and ask whether sea conditions affect departures. With enough time, pairing the boat and walkway gives a fuller reading of the strait: first from above, then from the water.
