About Torisei Main Store
Torisei Main Store occupies a former brewery in Fushimi and is associated with Yamamoto Honke, a sake producer founded in 1677. High ceilings and timber beams preserve the building’s industrial character; a large tank at the centre of the first floor supplies freshly pressed, unpasteurised sake. The link between the restaurant and a local brewery makes it more than a standard izakaya: the drink and the setting come from the same brewing tradition.
The kitchen focuses on Japanese chicken that, according to the restaurant, is delivered fresh each day. Skewers are grilled with a house sauce simmered with sake, alongside other chicken dishes and seasonal items. Chicken sashimi is offered in winter only and depends on availability. Seating includes a counter for solo diners, tables and group areas; private rooms have specific booking and course-menu requirements, so check ahead if you are travelling with a party.
Customer comments praise the brewery atmosphere, the skewers and the chance to pair them with the house sake; several mention queues at lunch and a lively dining room. The official site lists courses from ¥3,300 and a private-room course at ¥6,800, as well as an average budget of ¥3,000–¥4,000—useful planning figures, not a guaranteed individual bill. The restaurant normally opens 11:00–22:00, last order 21:30, and closes on Mondays except public holidays. It is at 186 Kamiaburakakecho, around a five-minute walk from Fushimi-Momoyama Station and close to the Gekkeikan museum; the official calendar lists special hours on selected dates.
