About Taisho Roman Tea Room

Hirosaki apple pie does not belong to one pastry shop: the city guide brings together recipes from bakeries, cafés and stores. Taisho Roman Tea Room lets visitors try several in a salon inside the Western-style mansion of Fujita Memorial Garden, a Taisho-era residence with spacious rooms and a conservatory dining area. The break is part of the garden visit, not simply a stop to buy dessert.

The menu changes with availability but usually gathers pies supplied by local businesses, apple galettes, curry made with Hirosaki fruit, pasta and drinks. Its value lies in presenting different styles in a historic setting; the tourism association compares sweetness, tartness and cinnamon, while noting that taste is subjective.

Visitors often praise the house, garden view and chance to compare pies from several bakeries at one table. Demand brings queues, limited seating and items that may sell out. Join the waitlist on arrival; tables are limited to 60 minutes and the queue may close before last orders. Takeaway pie can be bought at the counter.

The café is at 8-1 Kamishiroganecho, inside Fujita Memorial Garden southwest of the castle park. From the station, use the Dotemachi Loop Bus or a taxi. Local tourism information lists 9:30 am–4:30 pm, with food orders until 4 pm; confirm opening and pie availability on the day.
