About Aomori Prefecture Tourism Information Center ASPAM

ASPAM is Aomori’s tourism and regional-products centre, a 15-storey triangular building that has become a landmark by the port. Its name refers to Aomori Sightseeing Products Mansion, and its outline was designed as a monumental “A” for the prefecture. Inside are a tourist information desk, shops selling local food and crafts, places to eat, and two paid attractions: an observation deck and a panoramic digital cinema.

The observation deck is on the 13th floor, 51 metres above ground, with a view across the city, port, Mutsu Bay and the Hakkōda Mountains. On a clear day, the view may reach Hokkaido. On the second floor, a 360-degree cinema presents Aomori’s landscapes and festivals. Shopping areas are free to enter; the observation deck costs ¥500 for adults, the cinema ¥700 and a combined ticket ¥900. Public reviews highlight the views, immersive film and apple sweets or products; they also make clear that visibility shapes the panorama, which can lose its appeal on an overcast day.

The address is 1-1-40 Yasukata, beside the waterfront promenade and about an eight-minute walk from the east exit of JR Aomori Station. The official schedule published for May–October 2026 lists the observation deck from 9 am to 7 pm, while each shop and restaurant keeps its own hours. The building’s entrances may open before or after individual facilities, so check the day’s schedule. The 360-degree cinema is scheduled to close for maintenance from 27 to 31 October 2026. The building’s review score is more moderate than some individual comments; for a short stop, the observation deck and regional-product shop make the clearest pairing.
