About Atelier Moessmer Norbert Niederkofler

Atelier Moessmer Norbert Niederkofler, mountain fine dining in Bruneck

Atelier Moessmer Norbert Niederkofler is a fine dining restaurant located in Bruneck, in South Tyrol (Italy). It occupies the interior of the former Moessmer manor house and offers a gastronomic proposal built around the "Cook the Mountain" philosophy, championed by chef Norbert Niederkofler. The project was born from the collaboration between Niederkofler and Paul Oberrauch, president of the Moessmer wool mill.

The "Cook the Mountain" philosophy

The restaurant presents itself as a space where history, passion, innovation and respect are balanced. Its proposal seeks to inspire a change in the way we eat, collaborate and live, and asks how mountain cuisine can contribute to the growth of the entire planet. The menu is described as an experience to discover the purest essence of "Cook the Mountain".

The team

Alongside Norbert Niederkofler work Lukas Gerges, as restaurant manager and wine director, and Mauro Siega, as executive chef. Both have been collaborating with Niederkofler for several years.

The space and the journey of the experience

The experience at Atelier Moessmer is organised as a journey through different rooms of the building:

  • Aperitif and dessert room: the starting point, where guests can sit wherever they like.
  • Salon: the space before the tasting.
  • Veranda: with views of the park.
  • Library: where you can browse Norbert Niederkofler's private collection before dessert.
  • Open kitchen: an expansive counter that is part of the experience.

The welcome is described with the feeling of being "at home".

The building: the former Moessmer house

The restaurant occupies the former Moessmer manor house. The Moessmer wool mill, founded in 1894, is the oldest industrial concern in the Puster Valley. Today it is among the few textile companies that process wool through the entire production cycle, maintains lasting relationships and guarantees the sustainable use of resources. These characteristics have made it a creative partner and supplier to the most famous international haute couture brands.

Ansitz Heufler, the extension of the project

The "Cook the Mountain" project extends to the historic Ansitz Heufler, in Oberrasen, Antholz Valley, built in 1578 by the Heufler von Rasen family. It is one of the most remarkable examples of Renaissance architecture in South Tyrol. The initiative is a collaboration between Norbert Niederkofler, Ira Prugger and Andrea Tomasini. The building has been restored with respect for its historical heritage, recovering original details such as frescoed ceilings, vaulted rooms and the historic "Hearnstube". Its suites offer an exclusive experience where privacy meets hospitality. The in-house restaurant, with a rustic bar and terrace, is the heart of Ansitz Heufler and serves South Tyrolean classics such as dumplings, goulash and krapfen, inspired by Niederkofler's childhood memories.

Service and capacity

The restaurant serves dinner only from Wednesday to Friday, and lunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. To preserve the intimate atmosphere, a maximum of 30 guests per service is admitted. The venue offers a table reservation service and a gifts section.
