About DNS:NET
DNS:NET, fibre-optic operator in Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt
DNS:NET is a regional fibre-optic provider that operates its own network and serves customers in Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt. The company presents itself as a locally rooted operator, active since 1998, that deploys fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure and sells high-speed internet, telephony and television plans.
Fibre-optic plans for the home
DNS:NET's catalogue for residential customers is organised into several speeds. The entry-level plan is NETZPOWER S, with up to 100 Mbit/s download and 50 Mbit/s upload, which includes a flat rate for landline telephony and a premium router with Wi-Fi 7. It is followed by NETZPOWER M (up to 300 Mbit/s download and 150 Mbit/s upload), NETZPOWER L (up to 600 Mbit/s download and 300 Mbit/s upload) and NETZPOWER ULTRA, which uses 10 Gbit/s technology with symmetrical upload and download and up to 8.5 Gbit/s usable in the home network. The DERTarif 1,000 plan offers up to 1,000 Mbit/s download and 500 Mbit/s upload.
The NETZPOWER M, L and ULTRA plans include a flat rate for calls to the German landline network; in the case of ULTRA and DERTarif 1,000, the flat rate also extends to all German mobile networks. Calls abroad and to special numbers are excluded. All residential plans include a latest-generation premium router with tri-band Wi-Fi 7, with WLAN speeds of up to 14 Gbit/s and one telephone line.
Promotions available at the time of the analysis
The site indicated that the DERTarif 1,000 plan could be taken out for €19.99 per month for the first nine months, with a subsequent fee of €74.99 per month. The promotion was limited to new customers with an initial 24-month contract; from the tenth month the indicated basic fee applied. The same plan included a nine-month plan-change guarantee, which allowed customers to try the service and then switch to a lower plan. Provision costs were reduced to €49.00 instead of €99.00, and connection costs could be €0.00 instead of €990.00. The catalogue also showed NETZPOWER ULTRA for €19.99 per month for nine months and €99.99 from the tenth month, and NETZPOWER L for €59.99 per month, NETZPOWER M for €52.99 per month and NETZPOWER S for €44.99 per month. All residential prices included German statutory VAT; for self-employed people, business customers and companies with a tax identification number, the corresponding VAT was added.
Television and internet TV
DNS:NET's offering is completed by internet television. The company sold waipu.tv with more than 300 channels, of which more than 300 in high definition, and more than 70 pay channels, free for nine months and with a fee of €14.99 per month from the tenth month, with the option to cancel. The company also offers internet television and cable television, with channel lists available.
Fibre rollout and connections
DNS:NET deploys fibre optics to buildings and, in many of its expansion municipalities, covers the first ten metres of the connection at no additional cost. The company distinguishes between tenant and owner customers, and offers specific information for multi-family buildings. It also publishes educational content about fibre optics, the switch from copper and the advantages of fibre over VDSL.
Customer service and support
The company maintains a telephone support line and an advisory service for new customers, as well as its own app, downloads, FAQs, information on shipping and returns, and a speed test. DNS:NET serves both residential customers and business customers, municipalities and other public authorities, and has partner shops.
