Batorama
River cruises on the Ill from central Strasbourg: compare the 70-minute route with 45-minute options, and confirm your departure pier.
About Batorama
From the River Ill, Strasbourg reads differently: historic façades open between the canals, and the city changes scale as the boat moves on. Batorama runs several routes, so choose one for the time you have rather than assuming every departure covers the same sights.
The 70-minute main cruise links the Grande Île—including Petite France and the Covered Bridges—with the Neustadt and European district. The 45-minute Blue and Orange tours take different routes: Blue focuses on the historic centre, while Orange heads towards the European institutions and runs only on selected dates. On-board audio commentary is available in twelve languages, including English. Boats may be covered, open-top or convertible, depending on the departure and weather. At the time checked, the published adult fare was €16.20 for the Red Tour and €12.50 for the Blue Tour; check the calendar and fare before booking.
Keep the ticket shop and the boarding point separate in your plans. Batorama’s shop is at 18 Place de la Cathédrale, beside the cathedral; boats leave from pontoons at Place du Marché aux Poissons or Quai au Sable, a few minutes’ walk away. Pier renewal work can change the departure point. Check your ticket or Batorama’s website for the correct pier and arrive about 15 minutes early. From the city centre, the operator lists tram A or D to Porte de l’Hôpital; bus 10 stops at Corbeau or Bateliers, and buses 14 and 24 stop at Ancienne Douane.
Accessibility takes advance planning. Batorama says an adapted boat can carry up to three wheelchair users by prior reservation, and accessible departures are marked in the online booking calendar. The company also warns that paving at Place du Marché aux Poissons and some ramps can make access harder. Confirm the pier and boat available for your date directly with the operator. Weather can also affect whether the boat is covered or open, so check the departure details if that matters to your visit.
