About Ha(a)ïtza
Ha(a)ïtza: A Five-Star Hotel Near the Dune du Pilat
Ha(a)ïtza is a five-star hotel in Pyla-sur-Mer, in the Arcachon Bay area, a short distance from the Dune du Pilat and the well-known La Co(o)rniche hotel. William Techoueyres led its new chapter with a 2016 renovation by Philippe Starck, establishing it as a luxury landmark in the area. The four-story building reflects the region’s characteristic neo-Basque architecture.
Accommodations: 38 Rooms, Suites, and an Apartment
The property has 38 accommodations: 30 double rooms, five suites, two junior suites, and a 120-square-meter apartment arranged around a central living room, with two private terraces and panoramic views across Arcachon Bay. The lodging suits family vacations, trips with friends, and romantic getaways.
Three Restaurants and a Cocktail Bar
The hotel has three restaurants and a cocktail bar, all open daily. Bar Ha(a)ïtza, at the heart of the property, serves cocktails and tapas in the bar, main lounge, terrace, or by the pool. It is open from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Skiff Club is the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, led by chef Stéphane Carrade and awarded two Michelin stars. Its approach starts with straightforward regional ingredients and reworks them into inventive combinations. It serves dinner Monday through Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday lunch also available at noon.
Brasserie Ha(a)ïtza, inside the hotel, serves a traditional menu and Sunday brunch. It offers continuous service daily from noon to 11 p.m. Across from the hotel, Café Ha(a)ïtza serves bistro-style cooking in an elegant but relaxed setting, from noon to 2:30 p.m. and 7 to 10:30 p.m.
Reservations are accepted only for Skiff Club and Sunday brunch.
Pâtisserie de Famille
At the hotel entrance, Pâtisserie de Famille pairs a carefully designed interior—bright marble, natural wood, and textured concrete—with the chef’s reinterpretations of classic pastries. Service begins at noon and continues throughout the day.
Spa, Hair Salon, and Fitness
Open to the public, Ha(a)ïtza Spa offers beauty and wellness spaces facing the hotel pool. It has four CODAGE treatment rooms, a nail bar, a sauna, and a David Lucas hair salon, as well as a fitness room. The spa is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. by appointment.
La Boutique du Pyla
Near the center of the reception area, display cases showcase an eclectic selection of unusual and exclusive items, including clothing, accessories, assorted goods, and cosmetics. The boutique is open daily from 8 a.m. to midnight.
Design and Identity
The 2016 renovation was designed by Philippe Starck, with Ara Starck contributing her own sensibility and poetic touch. The indoor pool, beneath a retractable glass roof, is a central feature of the bar and spa.
