About Hameau Albert 1er

A Five-Star Relais & Châteaux Hotel in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

Hameau Albert 1er is a five-star hotel affiliated with Relais & Châteaux, set in a one-hectare wooded park near the center of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The property belongs to the Carrier family, whose roots in Chamonix go back several generations, and its hospitality business dates to 1903. The hotel combines individually decorated suites with independent chalets built from reclaimed wood.

Accommodations: Rooms, Suites, and Chalets

Accommodations range from rooms and suites with a timeless style to lodgings in a former farmhouse and freestanding chalets in the gardens. The hotel presents this range as a way for guests to choose the atmosphere, decor, and amount of space that suit them, with room to spread out as a defining part of the stay.

Two Restaurants: La Table Albert 1er and La Maison Carrier

The hotel offers two distinct dining experiences. La Table Albert 1er is the Michelin-starred restaurant, led by chef Damien Leveau, whose inventive cooking is served in a contemporary setting. La Maison Carrier serves mountain and country cooking in an atmosphere inspired by old alpine farmhouses, with architecture, furnishings, paintings, and ceramics to match, and dishes drawn from traditional recipes.

The Michelin-starred restaurant's reservation page lists dinner from 7:15 to 9 p.m.; it is closed Wednesday and Thursday. The kitchen cannot accommodate vegan diners, and pets are not allowed. A credit card number and expiration date are required to guarantee a reservation. For same-day cancellations after noon or no-shows, the restaurant charges €100 per canceled guest. La Maison Carrier offers a menu called “Tout Cochon” for €59, with a starter, main course, and a selection of three Alpine cheeses.

QuartzBar and the Bar Menu

QuartzBar is the hotel's elegant, intimate lounge. Its menu includes a small selection of savory and sweet items, original cocktails with or without alcohol, wine, and spirits. The hotel says live music is offered in the evenings during the season.

Bachal: Spa, Pool, and Wellness

The Bachal wellness area has heated indoor and outdoor pools facing the Mont Blanc range, a hot tub, and a hammam, along with personalized treatments and massages. Booking a treatment or massage includes access to the hammam and sauna; the pool and hot tub are reserved exclusively for hotel guests. For wellness appointments, cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance and no-shows incur a charge equal to 50% of the reserved treatment.

El Fenil: Seminars and Events

For meetings and events, the hotel has El Fenil, a separate building with contemporary architecture that is part of the property. It offers 90 square meters of flexible space opening onto the gardens and is presented as a venue for seminars and events in a five-star Relais & Châteaux setting.

Wine Cellar, Art, and Common Areas

The hotel's wine cellar holds close to 19,000 bottles and more than 1,000 selections, 640 of which appear on the wine list. Contemporary artists are exhibited in the lounges and QuartzBar, while the Couloir des Artistes in the Ferme showcases local talent in a more intimate setting. The hotel also has a library and a fireside lounge with board games.

Family Heritage and Environmental Commitment

Hameau Albert 1er describes itself as the result of five generations of work by the Carrier family, whose roots are in Chamonix, and says hospitality has been at the heart of its identity since 1903. The hotel also says it takes a broad approach to its environmental impact, with the aim of preserving the surrounding Alpine ecosystem.

Setting and Activities in the Chamonix Valley

The hotel's location provides access to the Chamonix Valley, an area associated with mountaineering and hiking, with routes for different experience levels. Notable landmarks include the Aiguille du Midi, which reaches 3,842 meters; the Montenvers Railway and Mer de Glace; villages in the valley connected by train; and the Musée du Mont-Blanc. Chamonix holds the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire designation and offers cultural programming throughout the year. The hotel team advises guests on activities in the area.
