About Punta Cana International Airport

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ): gateway to the Dominican Caribbean

Punta Cana International Airport, identified by the code PUJ, is the main access point to the Punta Cana tourist area in the Dominican Republic. It operates domestic and international flights and divides its activity between Terminals A and B, with separate arrivals and departures areas.

Passenger services and facilities

The facility offers a range of services and amenities including Wi-Fi access with instructions for connecting devices, a nursing room, a lost and found office, a food court area and VIP services. Lost and found information is handled through Security Management (CAE), with a specific contact number, and a Customs phone number is also provided. The airport has a downloadable assistance sheet for these cases.

Regarding immigration, it is noted that a valid passport with two blank pages is required to enter the country. The tourist card, which costs US$10, was incorporated into the price of the airline ticket through Decree 430-17, in effect since April 2018. There is also a US$20 departure tax that is normally already included in the airfare.

VIP services: arrival and departure assistance

The airport offers VIP assistance services for both arrivals and departures, subject to prior request and availability. The published rate for arrivals is US$100 per passenger for groups of up to two people and US$85 per passenger for three or more. For departures, the rate is US$200 per passenger for up to two people and US$175 per passenger for three or more. All prices are subject to an additional 18% government tax. The arrival service includes pick-up at the aircraft and fast track through immigration and customs; the departure service includes escort through the airline check-in counter, security check, immigration lanes and access to the VIP lounge.

Dining and shopping in the terminals

The dining offering within the terminals includes well-known brands such as Wendy's, Cinnabon, Segafredo's, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Nathan's and Hard Rock Café, as well as bars such as Skybar, Cavu Bar, Luve Bar and local establishments such as Caicali, Jet Express, Last Bite and Refugio. These establishments are distributed among Terminals A, B1 and B2, in departures and arrivals areas, and some operate with specific phone extensions.

In the retail section, passengers will find shops selling local products and recognized brands such as Victoria's Secret, Hard Rock, Duty Free Americas, 4 Fans, Bath and Body Works, Tumi, Longchamp and a pharmacy, along with the Puntacana Resort and Club logo shop. Most of these shops are located in Terminals A, B1 and B2, mainly in departures areas, with phone numbers or extensions for each one.

Parking and transportation

Each terminal has its own parking lot. The airport publishes rates for long-term parking and general use: the first 24 hours cost 850 Dominican pesos, as does each additional day. For short-stay parking, the first 30 minutes or less cost 50 Dominican pesos, with payment in cash or by MasterCard and Visa cards. Charges are also reported for lost ticket (1,000 pesos), tire clamping (1,000 pesos) and damage to the barriers (3,500 dollars). There are pay stations in Terminal A, in the arrivals area next to the cashiers, and in Terminal B, inside the parking lot. The airport mentions Uber pick-up areas at both terminals, with a pick-up point map available.

Advertising and connectivity

The airport sells advertising spaces at key points such as arrivals, departures, check-in, access ramps, immigration, customs, waiting areas and baggage belts. According to the site's information, these spaces guarantee contact with an average of around 20 thousand passengers per day.

Practical information and other details

The airport's website includes sections dedicated to flight information, airline listing, terminal maps, virtual tours, frequently asked questions, history, factsheets, gallery, emergency contacts, news and projects, as well as a free trade zone (Punta Cana Free Trade Zone) and awards and certifications.
