About St. Lawrence

St. Lawrence, French and Québécois cuisine in Vancouver

St. Lawrence is a Vancouver restaurant led by Chef/Owner Jean-Christophe (J-C) Poirier. Its offering brings together classic French cuisine with the gastronomic and cultural identity of Quebec, in a space the house itself describes as elevated yet approachable. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2022.

Menus and culinary offering

The menu is built around Michelin-starred menus and a table d'hôte menu guided by the rhythm of farmers and the market, changing week to week with the season. The house notes that the menu reflects the season's immediacy alongside a few classics returning to the table during September and October.

The cocktail program is based on French spirits, in both classic and signature cocktails, and is complemented by a French-focused wine list designed to accompany Chef Poirier's rustic, haute country cooking.

Accolades

In addition to the Michelin star obtained in 2022, the restaurant has accumulated distinctions such as Restaurant of the Year and Best Upscale at the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, a top-six placement in Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2023, and inclusion on the World's 50 Best Discovery List.

Previous accolades include No. 4 on enRoute magazine's 2018 list of Canada's Best New Restaurants; Vancouver Magazine awards for Best New Restaurant (2018), Restaurant of the Year (2018 and 2019), Chef of the Year (2019), Best Gastown (2019 and 2020) and Best French (2019, 2020 and 2023); consecutive top-five spots on the annual ranking of Canada's 100 Best Restaurants (No. 5 in 2019, No. 2 in 2020 and No. 3 in 2022); and recognition as one of Monocle Magazine's 50 Favourite Restaurants in the World in 2019.

Chef J-C Poirier

Originally from Quebec, J-C Poirier has been on the Canadian culinary scene for more than 25 years. After moving west in 2004 and helming kitchens at several notable Vancouver restaurants, he launched St. Lawrence in 2017 as a personal project, where he develops his razor-sharp focus, dedication to craft and affinity for time-honoured traditions.

Chez Céline, sister restaurant

St. Lawrence has a sister restaurant, Chez Céline, located in Vancouver's Fraserhood neighbourhood, at the corner of Fraser and 27th. Its offering brings together the charm of Montreal, the elegance of Paris and the communal warmth of Quebec's casse-croûtes. Standout dishes include escargots with green garlic butter flatbread, classic poutine and an 18oz pork chop with maple-apple cider sauce, as well as a weekend brunch.

Reservations, menus and gift cards

The restaurant's website allows guests to view the menu and book a table, and offers a monthly newsletter to learn about upcoming menus and when reservations are released. It also offers gift cards presented as an intimate and unique experience.
