Youi Insurance is an insurer operating in Australia after being authorised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and receiving its Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) from ASIC on 1 March 2008. The company traces its origins back to 1998 through its sister company OUTsurance. Its head office is located in Sippy Downs, Queensland.

Insurance products

Youi's range includes insurance for cars, home and contents, motorcycles, caravans and trailers, watercraft and small businesses. In the car segment it offers three options: comprehensive cover, third party fire and theft, and third party property only. For the home it provides building and contents, contents, building, and landlord insurance. On the commercial side it offers small business insurance and public liability.

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance

Youi offers Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance in New South Wales, where it is also called a Green Slip, and in South Australia. Customers can nominate or take out this cover online.

Claims management and assistance

The insurer provides a 24/7 roadside assistance service, included with comprehensive car cover, and guarantees the quality of authorised repairs for as long as the policyholder owns the vehicle. In the event of a claim, if the policyholder, their spouse or de facto partner claim for the same incident on more than one Youi policy, only one excess is payable, being the highest amount. The company publishes Ombudsman Claims Complaints Scores, which measure complaints requiring Ombudsman intervention per 1,000 claims, as part of its commitment to transparency in claims handling.

Opening hours vary by service: the claims team for car and lifestyle is available Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 20:00; home and contents, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00; client services, Monday to Saturday from 7:00 to 20:30; the small business insurance team, Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 21:30 and Saturdays from 8:00 to 16:00; and the New South Wales CTP team, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00.
