About Hungry Jack's
Hungry Jack's, the Australian flame-grilled burger chain
Hungry Jack's is an Australian-owned fast-food restaurant chain with more than 50 years of history. Its founder, Jack Cowin, remains the company's largest shareholder. The company operates more than 480 restaurants across the country's major population centres and employs more than 19,000 people. According to figures published by the company itself, it serves more than two million Australians every week and serves more than 125 million Australian beef burgers a year.
Origins and expansion
The brand's first restaurant opened in 1971 in Innaloo, Perth. Since then, the company has continued to make its burgers fresh to order and to allow customers to customise their order, a practice that, according to its corporate account, dates back to the brand's early days.
Food offering
The offering is built around flame-grilled Australian beef burgers with BBQ sauce, accompanied by freshly cut salad, thick-cut chips and sauces. The company states that all its burgers are made fresh to order and just the way the customer likes them. Among its standout products is the Jack's Fried Chicken range, made with a whole chicken breast described as big, thick, crunchy and juicy. The company also notes that every change to its menu responds to customer preferences, such as the addition of the Grill Masters gourmet burger range or the switch from traditional fries to thick-cut chips. It also states that it uses fresh cage-free eggs.
Jack's Cafe
The brand has a cafe line called Jack's Cafe, which offers barista coffee. The company promotes a Jack's Cafe digital loyalty card with which the fifth medium coffee is free, redeemable in restaurant and drive-thru, with conditions applying.
Mobile app, delivery and rewards
Hungry Jack's markets its own app, from which you can order for delivery or pick-up in restaurant. The app gives access to exclusive deals, vouchers and rewards, and includes the Shake & Win game, which allows two attempts a day to win prizes. The company also offers a loyalty programme, My HJ's, with vouchers redeemable in restaurant or online.
Employment and community commitment
The company describes its workplace culture as dynamic and customer-service oriented, and it keeps recruitment open. In its corporate communication it links its activity to three pillars: serving good food, employing great people and supporting the communities in which it operates.
