Founder's background

Anthony Quintero is the founder and owner of the company, which specializes in ornamental/fin-fish aquaculture, fish husbandry and sustainable aquatic environments. His interest in animals began in his early teens and developed into a focus on aquatic animals over sixteen years.

In 1996 he began an internship program under the tutelage of Fred Tonai, an ornamental fish master trained in Japan who owned one of the largest and most successful koi fishery facilities in the United States. That six-year understudy and employment allowed him to gain expertise in koi breeding, farm management, fish husbandry and the design and installation of residential and commercial life support systems (LSS).

Quintero later expanded his training with two internship seasons in Japan under Kaztaka Suda, who is credited with creating and introducing butterfly koi into the world market. His work spans services and expertise for pond enthusiasts worldwide, with international e-commerce and innovative, sustainable domestic approaches to life support system design.

He has been a frequent speaker at major ornamental fish hobby shows on aquaculture and life support systems, and a consultant for aquatic systems, including horticultural systems such as the Victorian water lily displays at the San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers and large aquatic ponds for a corporation such as Intel.
