About University of the District of Columbia Community College — Aviation Maintenance Hangar
UDC-CC’s aviation training is the exception to the Washington campus map: the aircraft work happens at Hangar 2 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, just south of the old terminal area. UDC places the facility beside the taxi parking garage and lists its address as 2801 Thomas Avenue, Hangar #2, Washington, DC 20001. This is a specialized instructional site for students who have chosen the aviation pathway, not a general walk-in campus for all Community College services.
The college describes two linked routes: an Aviation Maintenance Technology associate degree and an Aircraft Mechanic certificate. The certificate requires 48 academic credits—eight six-credit courses—and about 1,900 hours of lecture, laboratory instruction and experience. UDC says an average student completes it in four semesters, approximately two years, and must pass the FAA’s written, oral and practical examinations for the Airframe and Powerplant rating. The associate program has its own course plan and award; students should compare the current catalog and contact the program director before selecting a route.
The hangar’s value is its setting: aircraft systems, tools and lab work are part of the learning environment, with coursework aligned to federal aviation-maintenance standards. Applicants first apply to UDC Community College, complete the required placement process, and then review the aviation program’s prerequisites and published application dates. The aviation page shows separate deadlines for domestic and international applicants. Confirm the exact entry gate, class meeting time and access instructions with the program before travelling to the airport facility.
Aviation maintenance instruction takes place at Hangar 2 by Reagan National Airport, with hands-on aircraft systems, lab and FAA-aligned training.
