About APIA Scholars Scholarship Program
APIA Scholars offers college scholarships designed to reduce educational barriers, prioritizing students with significant financial need and first-generation students. The current page says applicants from all backgrounds may apply and ethnicity or nationality is not the sole criterion. The 2027–28 cycle opens November 15, 2026, and closes January 15, 2027, at 5 p.m. Eastern.
Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, nationality, or permanent residency, or citizenship of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or Palau, plus degree-seeking undergraduate enrollment at an accredited U.S. institution for the upcoming academic year. Associate and bachelor’s study, part-time or full-time, may qualify; graduate students and people who already earned a bachelor’s degree are excluded. Confirm the final list in the new cycle.
Prepare academic records, financial details, intended major and institution, and relevant activities. Check whether an award serves incoming, continuing, or transfer students and whether it requires a recommendation or essay. APIA plans to notify applicants by email on April 15, 2027, and distribute funds in summer 2027. Keep copies of submissions and monitor email, including spam.
When the portal opens, read the new cycle instructions before reusing answers or figures from archived pages. Check whether the application requests citizenship, heritage, income, first-generation status, or community involvement and answer with verifiable records. Compare the award with the full institutional package, not tuition alone.
To compare this benefit with other options, ask financial aid for an estimate separating tuition, fees, housing, and excluded expenses. Confirm whether it renews annually, what GPA or course load it requires, and whom to contact if the student account does not show the payment. Keep award letters and receipts until the school confirms disbursement.
