About Pima Community College — Aviation Technology Center
Pima’s Aviation Technology Center is at 7211 South Park Avenue in the Tucson International Airport area. Program administration is based at Downtown Campus, so this address is primarily a training and laboratory site. Its workshops, hangars and aircraft turn lessons in mechanics, electronics and structures into practice with real equipment.
Pima lists an Aircraft Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics Certificate that takes 16 months full-time or 28 months part-time. The Aviation Technology Associate of Applied Science is published as a 22-month full-time plan combining general education with A&P certificate courses. Specialized certificates include structural repair and avionics in one semester, and nondestructive testing in 11 months. A&P courses follow FAA Part 147 regulations; completing the program prepares students to sit for certification exams, which carry additional fees.
The college describes a 97,000-plus-square-foot facility with two hangars, 10 classrooms, 10 labs and 21 training aircraft, including three Boeing 727s and two regional jets. This is a highly specialized site, not a substitute for general admissions and advising at Downtown. Start there and confirm entry requirements, schedule, tests and material or tool expenses. Pima says parking is free at its locations and Sun Tran serves the campuses; check the Park Avenue map and exact entrance before driving.
Hands-on aircraft-maintenance training, from one-semester certificates to a 22-month Aviation Technology AAS.
