Pebble Hill combines an estate museum with grounds that can be explored independently. The property’s origins and the present house belong to different periods. A fire destroyed most of the earlier house in 1934, leaving the loggia wing; the replacement was completed in 1936. The current neoclassical building should not be described as an unchanged antebellum mansion.

Interior tours conclude in the Big Room, where architectural details and painted murals help explain successive owners’ choices. Landscape planning is also documented: Ethelwyn Harrison developed a master scheme in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The Green Arrow material relates formal design, vistas and camellias, giving visitors a way to read the grounds beyond a photograph of the façade.

Main-house tours run Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m., normally every half-hour, with the last departure at 3:30 p.m. Children must be six or older for the house. Grounds open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 5 and Sunday noon to 5. Sunday admission is grounds-only, with no main-house tour; Monday and specified holidays are closed.
