About Spokane Community College — Apprenticeship and Journeyman Training Center

The Apprenticeship and Journeyman Training Center in Spokane Valley serves students pursuing trade instruction. SCC holds Skilled Trades Preparation here, an 11-week course offered in fall, winter and spring. Training includes shop practice, construction math, first aid, flagging and scaffolding, building basic skills before a student applies to a registered apprenticeship.

SCC says the preparation program partners with 18 apprenticeship programs, many of which hire graduates directly. Published entry requirements include being at least 18, holding a high-school diploma or GED and having completed ESL 5; staff may discuss exceptions. The listed tuition is $25, and alternate funding assistance is available. Classes run Monday through Thursday and require full-day attendance.

Information sessions include a facility tour and a chance to meet instructors and apprenticeship coordinators. Contact the center before visiting, since course registration and entry into a trade apprenticeship are separate processes. For associate degrees or other technical fields, check SCC’s program catalogue and the quarter schedule for the location of each class.

In brief
